3022 Olympics

The 3022 Olympics, held in space on the planet Taaph, Zargon, face financial difficulties ultimately leading to most of the events cancelled, running out of oxygen and the accidental self-destruction of the Olympic village.

It highlights the dangers of trying to hold sporting events in space.

Due to a budget SNAFU, there were minor adjustments to the Olympic Schedule.

Event Time Place

Space Disks, 0900 ASU, Orbiter Arena #1

Space Swords, 1300 ASU, Orbiter Capsule #4

Space Luge, 1700 ASU, Zargon System Asteroid Field

All other events, TBA, TBA

The fate of future competitions is in doubt, as the Space Olympics Event Coordinator sacrificed himself for the good of the free-loading athletes and Michael Phelps' clone, who was obviously brain dead. It remains unclear why the alien hordes decided to attack during the evacuations. It is rumored that they were related to the Aztecs.

This event was immortalized in perhaps the greatest space olympics song every written. http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/digital-short-space-olympics/656361/

This song once again became relevant after the playoffs for Season 3 of Realism1 were Totally Canceled.

Allegations of treachery

Many years after the Space Olympics debacle, conspiracy theorists provided compelling evidence that the Space Olympics Coordinator was actually a deep cover agent for the alien horde bent on destroying humanity. The small telescope that was too short to see out the window of the administrator's office was most likely a signaling device to coordinate the alien horde's attack to time with the oxygen depletion at the events. People point out that it was the administrator himself that ensured there wasn't sufficient oxygen at the events. Also, evidence that the administrator didn't require oxygen to survive not only make him probably not human, but the perfect person to pull an oxygen deprivation attack. This bombshell revelation rocked the universe for decades culminating in the 3033 space riots when the alien horde wanted to build a "Chanting Temple" in orbit around Zargon.
