The issue is complicated beyond what any foreigner could imagine.

It's a vicious cycle that the ROMA (or less PC - Gypsies) go through. Parallels emerge from the situation here with Mexicans, but I think ROMA have it much worse. And I have seen both sides.

I have no intent on commenting much further, but I'll make one thing clear: ROMA peoples come from India. Don't be fooled by the name. ARMENIA is one of he first countries these nomads settled in with large numbers. They kept on expanding from there.
Only about 2.5% of the population in Romania is ROMA. Compare 4.7% in Bulgaria, 2.1-3.0% in Hungary.
