More on the World Cup
« Topic Start: June 13, 2010, 01:09:51 PM »
For those who are interested, I've made a spreadsheet (you can't really be surprised) for the World Cup.

I've also included my predictions who will advance to the knockout rounds and the winners of all of the knockout matches.  I made these predictions after the draw was announced.  Having seen what I have so far, I would change a couple of things, but no major bracket busters yet.

Sky:  Our draw vs. England gives me a glimmer of hope that we can actually win the group (on goal differential) and get the comparatively easy path to the semifinal.  (The right half of my predicted bracket is fucking brutal).

Squiz:  I know that Germany is the better team overall, but I really believe we can win (assuming we haven't lost anyone to car accumulation or any injuries).  Besides, we're due for a fortunate break or two v. Germany after Oliver Khan robbed us of a win in 2002 quarterfinal.

Car accumulation is what always gets us in the end.  :crying blue ball:

Oh man, Germany just had a fail at their chance for 3-0 (59th minute) with Klose attacking. Moments later Podolski tried to score by hitting right at the goalie.  :hahaha:

As the US showed though, shoot enough on target and something will go in. Poor Aussies have no chance.

Yeah... the crosses and passing was pretty impressive... Klose should have had 3 all by himself though...

I fuckin hate Klose.. still dont understand why they even choosed him. There is a forward called Kuranyi and scored over 20 goals this season and is freakin awesome. But nooo Klose gotta join the team, he hasnt played a single match for the last 3-4 months and had to work A LOT and still failed. Well he scored a goal but really.. it wasnt that hard to score that one for somebody who knows how to use his head xD

In his defense, he has been an absolute beast in previous WC matches... Just imagine if he had properly finished his first to chances and actually wound up with 3... the man would be a freaking legend in Germany.

he allready is.. just look at our first match in the WC 2002. 8-0 against.. erm. cant remember but he scored like 4 times or something. It was just awesome.
But somebody whos really good in general but not playing for a quite long time aint that good anymore. And when I look at the last matches he played for Germany he was just a freakin joke. So I still dont understand why the fuck he got his spot comparing him to other players.

So you're not only a shameless stat-whore but also a shameless front-runner?

Even weirder when you consider that this Brazil team isn't even playing the usual Brazil style.

But you have to admit that their current style id proving to be very effective - maybe even more-so that in recent years...

I guess I just like to win.  :hahaha:

Brazil is just always so into the sport. Its not mechanic like ze Germans (eins zwei, eins zwei) or "practice falling over" like the Italians, its evident joy of playing soccer. I've been a fan ever since I've been a little kid (since the Polish team has sucked balls ever since then, can't even watch their matches without cringing).
