Kind of hard to compare Avatar with The Hurt Locker.  Both were made for different reasons with wildly different budgets.  If "Best Movie" implies some sort of serious movie making, then I would go with The Hurt Locker.

Thats true.
I guess thats how I determine best movie--as in "serious" movies--but Id rather watch Avatar 10 times before I watch The Hurt Locker again.I think the "best" movie ever made was Schindler's List, but Ive only seen it once, and I turn it whenever I see it on TV ,I just cant watch it.

Awee H2O, that's so sweet. It got me too, though I can probably watch it again. Heck, I was still living at home when I watched it, and my mom came to tell me something like, do this or that or something and it was NOT a good time. LMAO.

Anyways, if you're talking about 'haven't we seen this story before?' then you can argue dat shit for about 90% of the movies.

But yes, there are some originals out there once in a while. Hurt Locker was nice - a war movie, but with a different focus.
The Book of Eli was nice as well, I thought. Very original.

For more of this type, check out Jarhead... but read the book instead.  It's a super-easy read and way better than the movie.

Jarhead the movie was kind of boring, right?  Nothing ever really happened.

Wasn't to bad but it seemed to be more down to him being worried and having jealousy issues for his girlfriend back home.. from what I remember anyway.

Still haven't found anything that surpasses Black Hawk Down imo.

Yeah... I rented it and the only reason i didn't turn it off before it was over was because I wanted to see how closely it followed the book.

I thought the book was excellent - and I'm not much of a reader.  I finished it in a couple of nights.

Another (of the very few) books that I've read recently was also turned into a movie... and, again, I thought the movie pretty well sucked while the book was great.

I think they called the movie 21 but the book was called Bringing Down the House - about the MIT blackjack team that raped all the casinos with their team of card counters.  I was fascinated.

I rarely read books but I found both of these (Jarhead & Bringing Down) to be very interesting and actually difficult to put down.  The writing style probably has a lot to do with that and they're both pretty short too.

That movie was the worst POS i've seen ever.
